Ovechkin Vs. Crosby (Game 2)

Posted in Hockey with tags , , , , , , , , , , on May 5, 2009 by codog

I mean, Caps vs. Pens. There’s no “I” in team, right? WTF-ever! Arguably the NHL’s two best players and the series draws put on an absolute show tonight, both gettin’ hat tricks in a 4-3 victory for the Caps.

Now don’t get me wrong, I believe hockey is as much a team sport as any. Seriously, I do, but these two just dominated scorin’ 6 of the 7 total goals in the game. If your viewpoint is that these two offset each other then the Caps’ Dave Steckel had arguably the game changin’ goal in the second. Guess it was lucky for the Caps he stepped up, right? </sarcasm> Clicky Click Here Fo Mo!

My Letter to John Wall

Look, I know kids will be kids but come on John. You could have announced that you were attending NC State by putting on a cap at a press conference. Instead, you show the world which way you’re leaning by breaking and entering? I’m not sure that you’re going to go to NCSU but at least you’re trying to meet their requirements by being an absolute idiot.

Just in case you live under a rock and have no clue as to why teams will still salivate for this kid, here you go.

Simona Halep – A Reason To Watch Women’s Tennis

Posted in Chicks and Sports, Tennis with tags , , , , , , , , on May 4, 2009 by Hendy

Anyone who knows me knows I love tennis. I’ll even watch women’s tennis. Simona Halep is my newest reason to love the sport. Well, not necessarily Simona – moreso Simona’s ridiculously large…..um….assets.

So here’s my thinking. They should institute two levels on the women’s side. One where this chick plays Anna Kournikova,  Maria Sharipova, Daniela Hantuchova, Gisale Dulko and Ana Ivanovic. Then all the others can play with the guys. No one wants to see them anyway.

Sanchez Love Justified……

Posted in NFL Football with tags , , , , , , , , , , , on May 3, 2009 by pirate1028

Being a Browns fan I was pumped with the events that transpired when Cleveland went on the Clock with the #5 pick. Getting 3 solid players, an additional 2nd round pick for a trade down that eventually yielded what I hope is a center that will anchor the line with Joe Thomas for the next 10 years.

However, what I am perplexed by is the love given by seemingly every sports talk show toward Mark Sanchez. I give the guy his due, he had a stellar junior campaign throwing for 3200 yards 34 touchdowns and who can forget the man handling of Penn State in the Rose Bowl (414 yards 4 tds) which capped his college career when he decided to forgo his senior season.

When I sit back and analyze this, it is propably one of the weakest QB class to enter the NFL in quite some time.  Matt Stafford is battle tested playing in the SEC, Josh Freeman was a 3 year starter at KSU who plays stiff competition on a regular basis, after that there was a steep drop off.  USC is probably one, if not the top NFL talent producers in the country in terms of NFL ready players even though they play in the PAC 10 conference.  What Ican’t get over is how Sanchez was a 1 year starter, failing to beat out John David Booty for 2 seasons prior to his junior season. When Sanchez announced he was going pro, Coach Carroll didn’t even give him a ringing endorsement which normally he is never shy to push his players to the NFL when ready.

Just this morning on SportsCenter they made a comment about how Stafford was texting Matt Ryan for advice while Mark was already showing off his leadership skills while working in the lobby of the hotel with some tryout players on the playbook the night before practice.  If I was Stafford this would surely be fueling my desire to prove who the best QB in the class is.

I just keep thinking this could this be another Jet draft day miss. Thoughts????

Caps take 1-0 Series Lead on Pens

Yessir, believe it or not, I’m writin’ about hockey! I just caught game 1 of the Washington vs. Pittsburgh NHL semifinal playoff series, and wow what a game! Very exciting from start to finish.

The hype goin’ into the series was on Ovechkin vs. Crosby and they didn’t disappoint early. Crosby gets the first goal of the series with a sweet move across the middle and against the grain; and Ovechkin got an easy tie breakin’ power play goal later on in the first. Ahhh, Cleveland

There are few places in the sports world that I despise. Cleveland is right on the cusp. The only redeeming quality about Cleveland is the fact that the Browns have sucked ass for so long that you can’t even hate them anymore. Hell, I’ll admit it – I’ve found myself actually cheering for the Browns on Sundays just so they’ll be relevant enough for me to justify my hatred again. Anyway, with times being so tough, Cleveland is trying to bring in the tourists. Here’s a video the city just produced.

I think it’s going to work. Thoughts?

Silva Vs. Griffin Confirmed for UFC 101

Posted in MMA with tags , , , , , on May 1, 2009 by codog

After two lackluster but winning performances, Anderson Silva asked for a challenge. The UFC delivered….or did they? For most people, Forrest Griffin is a huge challenge. But, even havin’ to bump up from middleweight to light heavyweight, Silva should find Griffin to be only slightly more challenging than his daily sparring partner. Clicky Click Here Fo Mo!
